Well, better anything than nothing... at least, olives are alive and kicking.

May I suggest that someone leave that "comforting" tsipouro , take screwdriver, climb to the camera and point it (manually) to the Skala's bay, to cover some of the sea and some of the sky, PLEASE!

That hero (Hercules, so to say!) will receive a very special (drinkable!) gift from Serbia, when I come to Thassos in two weeks, as a token of gratitude.

The Mouzakka, Greek Salad and large glass of wine for tea the other night didn't work to lift the depression, so we have made a trip to Morrison's and stocked up on the Mythos so that we can drown our sorrows at not being able to see our beloved Thassos on the webcam! Cheers everyone!!

:-S :P B-) >:P I run out of Metaxa and Ouzo, the nearest place where I can get a Mythos (and that is a big MAYBE) is almost 25Km away...I can't handle it, I need...I MUST SEE a Golden Beach view soon...or.....I'm definitely having Go-Thassos webcam withdrawal...and if I can't find Mythos....well....whiskey seems to be my last option.....

At least you can try to point the camera manually towards the bay and Skala Potamia... it's a pity to have it there, but showing just grass and a little bit of blue water at the upper part of the image...

Hi friends,

With the help of our technician on the ground here on Thassos as well as Earthcam's tech support team, we managed to get the camera positioned to show a much more enjoyable view of our beautiful Golden Beach. The motor that controls the movement of the webcam got a heavy dose of electricity from a lightning strike on June 15 which apparently fried it... so we hope the current view will suffice until a permanent solution is found.

Hi Radu,

No can do, unfortunately. If we could we would have done this a long time ago. The camera is entirely mechanical and cannot be moved manually, only via the controls which are not working right now.

We're on it. Please continue being patient as we try to get this problem resolved...

soare i will agree with you they should get hd camera and and the other to situate the main stream on golden beach to show the shops, and alternate one the beach and one the main road.

Hi There only 64 days until we return!! With the current political issues in the country is anyone able to tell me how this has effect food/living/services prices on the island? I am trying to plan a budget as I am self catering,also how much is it to eat out.....we dined at the Green Sea quite a bit but also in Scala Potamias! Thanks

Hello,
Back with some suggestions on webcam, namely as I said it would be replacing it with a full HD webcam.
You might want to change the viewing angle of the webcam, to be clear, broad, with a more defined zoom on the beach, the pier, the entire course of 4-5 km from the Panagia Potamia, including Mount Ipsarion.

Thassos is my first love and that's why I want a full HD webcam to show the world the beauty of the island's clear.
