Re: Thassos Ancient Theater still closed?
Good news!
Yesterday we observed the crane had been taken away and municipality workers were at the theater cleaning it with a power washer - we took a photo to share with you!
So it's now open to visitors and hopefully *fingers crossed*, we'll see things happening there this summer!

Re: Live Webcam at Golden Beach, Thassos
Hey cguk
What a treat this has been! You're right, we aren't used to getting so much white stuff! What? Snow plow? hehe! Most roads are cleared when the snow melts naturally. Snow chains are mandatory when we have snow but most people just stay home and wait for the melt, which is usually quick and takes just a day or two.
I went for a walk in Limenas on Sunday and snapped these to share with you!

Re: bus timetable from kavala to keramoti.
Hi Floralou
When you arrive to Kavala, I recommend taking the ferry to Skala Prinos. Then you can take a bus from Skala Prinos to Limenas (if that is your final destination) which is just a 25-minute bus ride. The bus waits at the ferry port for the ferry to arrive and then leaves 5 minutes later, so this way is very time efficient! The cost is lower, too.
Otherwise, you will need to take a bus from Kavala to Chrissoupoli and then another bus from Chrissoupoli to Keramoti. This journey is possible but I find it less convenient and less practical compared with my above recommendation.

Re: Potamia festival
There are lots of videos (like the one below) of last year's Antamoma... let's see who can spot Adrian in the crowd first!
http://youtu.be/nzLmhuaOcBo
And in case you're interested, there are also many videos from 2012's Antamoma in Kazaviti...
http://youtu.be/4LDiEYKTEuU
You can watch both Antamomas in their entirety on YouTube! They're divided up and in sequence.

Re: Cycling in Thassos
Jude.
Some of the bike hire shops do offer helmets, you have to ask, but, if you have your own, I do think it will probably safer, particularly if you have got children with you, to take your own, as I don't think that condition and compliance with safety regulations will be a priority for some of the cycle providers.
If you got the room in your luggage, and cycle helmets aren't heavy, I think it will be more reassuring to take your own, because that way you know that they are in good condition and that that they fit well.

Re: Is there a music store on Thasos?
Hi Tink,
There aren't any musical instrument stores or pawn shops on the island but it's possible you could find an instrument store in Kavala on the mainland, which is just a ferry ride away from Thassos.
It may be better to ask around, however. Be it your host, or the owners at the tavernas and cafes you dine at, or the musicians themselves who perform live music at the tavernas. They may have some idea as to how you can get your hands on an instrument for a short while during your holiday.
The more people you meet and ask the better your chances are to find something, so be sure to get out there and socialize while you're on Thassos. You may be surprised with how hospitable they are and willing to help!

Re: Live Webcam at Golden Beach, Thassos
The vaccine rollout on the island is going smoothly and we hope to fully vaccinate these groups this month, ahead of Greece's re-opening for tourism in May 2021.
- 65+ group
- Vulnerable groups with underlying conditions
- Hospitality workers (waiters, cooks, cleaners, drivers, etc)
The strategy is to open for tourism and welcome everyone into Greece who:- Carries a vaccine certificate of an approved vaccine
- Has a negative PCR text from the last 72 hours
- Has been infected with Covid in the past 6 months (therefore has antibodies/immunity)
For those of you who don't meet the above criteria, the Greek government is considering allowing you to enter Greece if you take a rapid test at the border and it comes back negative. The Greek state will pay for the test.Greece is currently experiencing its 3rd wave and we aim to keep the numbers very low as we did last year. Greece has been under lockdown restrictions since November and they will likely continue until after Orthodox Easter (May 2) so that when we open for tourism next month it will be very safe like last year.
Since all restaurants, cafes, and bars have been completely shut since November 2020 due to lockdown, after a very poor summer season, the Greek state is going to provide grants to restaurant and bar owners to help them re-open this summer. We don't want you to find closed businesses when you arrive so we're doing everything to keep Greece safe and open for your holiday.
If you are able to come this summer it will mean a lot to all of us! We need your support more than ever but remember your safety should always come first.
We hope you can make it!
