Hello Angie You lucky moo. Does the Blue view seem ok. Always a bit worried about going to a place I haven't been before, but its got very good comments on trip advisor. The sea looks beautiful today, a lot calmer, ideal for water sports. i cant think now how I coped before webcam. Getting a daily dose or two keeps me going until my next visit in July. love to all on Thassos the most magical. peaceful chilled place ever. x Dont you ever change

Andy - the Blue View looks lovely!the locals are expecting this heat wave to continue until after the weekend so fingers crossed!We have eaten at some lovely places - The Amici is one(we go back to year after year) and also the Stelakis is a beautiful taverna.

Hello James, We always use Potos for our car rental - they are local. If you're staying in Thassos Town, they have an office by the ferries. Hope that helps.

Hello We were in golden Beach July 2010 and are due back in July again. Our favorite restaurant was Playa D'oro opposite the campsite. They do fab pizza's but all the local dishes we had were fabulous couldn't pick a favourite as loved everything. House Red wine also good, starters bread mains and wine for 2 of us normally around 30 euros or less. Fedra couple of door up also good and when we were there they did 2 courses with glass of wine, beer or soft drink 8 euros 60cents and they would bring complimentary desert amazing value. But we like to make the meal in the evening last all night and due to Fedra being preprepared fixed menu the meal was over too quickly, but service and quality for the meoney fab. But Playa D'oro just more our thing freshly cooked to order great service and we could take all night if we wanted. So that will be were we will be eating on our first night. Also Captains in Skala Potamia has really good reputation so we will be trying that this time, a train runs from the Marina Apartments regularly if you don't want to walk. Marina is the turning at the side of the Playa D'Oro. Now I am really impatient for our trip only 19days to go Have a great holiday Thassos and Golden Beach are lovely and the ferry trip over is a great way to start the holiday.

Our favourite place to eat in golden beach is also Playa D'ora good food whatever you choose, also Finikas which is just past Playa D'ora.But it is very rare you get a bad meal anywhere.One word of warning is the Vigli has great food but we have had bugs all over the table when we have eat and it does put you off. As well always have the local house wine anywhere its always good.

the food is alway very good we tend to stick to the same tavernas but we deceided to have a change (wrong choice) my brother had sword fish we have been home over two weeks now and he is just feeling a bit better his GP told him he had food poisening. I would avoid sword fish or the taverna.

Regarding Wendy Greeves comment on the 18th June, we always go to the Garden Hotel in Limenaria, the food there is of exceptional quality and always cooked fresh. The Owner Panos makes you very welcome, we must meet up there Wendy for a meal and a drink have you ever tried the wine called Makedonikog, we will have a bottle ot two of that when we meet up YAMAS.

Many thanks fore your replies bit worried about the food poisoning though other half came home with hep A from one island thats the gamble with shell fish but we did not have shell fish probably cross contamination. Really looking forward to our jollies in september first time to thassos so really excited great vieptplxws of the beach at present great web cam .

What taverna did your Brother have his swordfish in? We had a meal at the Vigli (not our choice, but we went with a group of people) at the beginning of our holiday in June. I had a really bad stomach upset for 4 days afterwards. This was the only holiday I came back weighing less than when I went! We always eat at the Fedra and have had no trouble at all. In fact some nights we have left there really late (around 1am) and you can see the kitchen staff still cleaning. The kitchen is absolutely spotless.

Hi Brenda the taverna was Flisvos on the sea front next to the Captains. We were a party of nine and four of us had fish and shell fish only my brother had sword fish the gp said if it was in this country it would have been investigated.

We have been to Thassos about 30 times since 1994 and have stayed in Limenaria, Tripiti, Potos, Thassos Town and Golden Beach on several occasions. We eat out all the time and have not experienced any problems with food anywhere.

Yes we have caught the bug, but not the one people are talking about! We have caught the Thassos bug and have now spent 10 wonderful holidays on this island, mainly in Golden Beach, and never once have we had any stomach upsets (which I have to say is very unusual for me having contracted salmonella many years ago!).
Everywhere you go on the island you will meet like-minded holidaymakers who return year after year. From the minute you land at Kavala airport the service is exceptional. Thassians are wonderful people and, if it is in their power, they will make your stay fantastic. We have had some lovely meals in the Vigli, Playa de Oro, Finikes, Enavlion, The Fedra, Green Sea, Captain's Bar - all over - too many to mention - everyone of them is different and you will always have your own favourite - but I have never heard of anyone complaining of an upset stomach (only when they've had too much Mythos or Ouzo!)
I am sorry to hear that some holidaymakers had a problem, it is very rare on Thassos as it is one of only a handful of Greek islands where you can actually use the local water and not to come any harm whatsoever! YAMAS
