A storm passed over the island a few days ago and caused a power surge. Some of the hardware was affected which is causing this down time of the camera. Rest assured it is not you and we're working to get it back up for your enjoyment!
We're waiting for a network and hardware specialist to come to the camera site and troubleshoot the problem that's causing the down time so we may fix it. Unfortunately the specialist hasn't been able to come till now but we hope he will very soon.
The people at Thomsons should be able to give you a definite answer.
One possibility is that the airport in Kavala is up for privatization in 2016 and perhaps Thomsons is waiting to learn the changes in fees? Aside from that I haven't a clue but I hope they do decide to offer flights in May 2016.
I also really hope that after the airport is privatized we'll begin to see budget airlines (Easyjet, etc.) flying from the UK to Kavala... that would be a great development for everyone traveling to Thassos independently from the UK!

A quick update: The new parts we've been waiting for just arrived to customs in Athens... so hopefully we will get them in Thassos this week so we can repair your favorite Golden Beach webcam and enjoy the views again. Woohoo!
Hi Wendy. We're thinking of going flight only with Thomas Cook next year and staying up Scala Potamia end of the bay - looking for a 2 bed apartment as there will be four of us this time - I also see TC are using Suzies - another tempting option
Out of interest what do taxis charge for fares from the airport to Keromoti and from Thassos Town to SP ?
we've gone independently for the last 4 times, and going again next year. The first time is a little worrying, but after that you wonder what you were worried about.You will love the sense of freedom, not being part of the crowd. Enjoy

The taxi from the Kavala Airport (KVA) to Keramoti is €20.
From Thessaloniki Airport (SKG) it's around €150.
The first time is a little worrying, but after that you wonder what you were worried about.You will love the sense of freedom, not being part of the crowd.
