anybody know about the levy all holiday makers have to pay, when they travel to greece. 4 euro per day from jan 18. payable on arrival at hotel.. seems like they want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg.i know it seems like a bit of a whinge but it wont stop there..each year it willease up a bit more.. whats it like in blackpool??
It has been discussed quite a lot on TA forums. As I understand it, it is based on the room and not p/p and is on a percentage with the top hotels charging the 4€s and smaller ones much less.
Many people have said they don't know what all the fuss is about but I agree with you that what is a small fee now will only rise in the future.
Spain did try it many years ago and had to abandon it. However, with places like Egypt and Turkey off people's lists they are getting more people and have brought it back.
People in the end do vote with their feet and the costs of holidays will tell in the future
