Diving and snorkeling

Hei!
My wife and I are going to Thassos next week and are so looking forward to it!
I know that, sadly, this board is not very active - thus this might not be the right place to ask, but I don't know where. If anyone can tell me that would be awesome!
I am going diving. So far I am thinking to go with Popeye. I am wondering if any locals dive and if they are keen on diving with a tourist. Dive centres are good, but when I have all the gear and experience, it seems strange to pay that much more to dive because I have a guide.
Secondly, are there any beaches or locations where snorkeling is good?

Definitely definitely definitely (that's not a mistake, I meant to repeat the word 'definitely'!) GO snorkeling south of Skala Maries at Fari Beach, it's one of the best places!
I'm no Pro but I've done some snorkeling around the island and found this area to be teaming with sea life and interesting things to look at. I think this area is so good due to the fact that the water gets deep quite quickly (not shallow like most areas around Thassos) and there's a lot of underwater vegetation which attracts fish and more.
This is where it is:

O, btw., are there bioluminescent organisms around thasos (plankton making light)?
I'm unable to tell you since I haven't done a whole lot of diving myself. I suggest sending an email to these diving clubs and asking them. They should have enough experience to be able to answer your questions.
