We never heard of a great white being caught in the Aegean sea, let alone around the shallow waters of Thassos!

Even though they exist, shark-sightings are rare in Greek waters and usually they're the types of species harmless to humans.

You're much more likely to meet a dolphin!

Great whites are VERY common on Thassos, but in form of two-legged humanoids, not scary fishes.
