Holiday advice wanted

We have already booked our flights for Thassos next year but was thinking of staying in Kavala for 4 nights, then staying on Thassos for 10 nights.
Has anyone done this? Is 4 nights enough for Kavala?
Any advise,tips(places to stay etc) would be appreciated,

Often stay overnight in Kavala. We really like it. We stay at Hotel Galaxy (40-50 euros) right on sea front, short walk from Thessaloniki bus and ferry to Prinos) it has a lovely roof garden where you eat and drink with beautiful views. You can watch the ferries come and go and its all twinkly at night. Booking online available.
Hotel Imaret features in Small Luxury Hotels Of the World. Gorgeous but oh so pricey.
I prefer Kavala to Athens. Loads of places to eat and drink and fascinating old city.4 nights is plenty.
