I'm sorry I can't offer any feedback for the Potos taxi service, not having used them, but, if you are in any doubt, and want your booking to be confirmed, I could vouch for the reliability of the two companies which are on the go-thassos site.

On a personal level, and I have been travelling to Thassos, mostly independently, for the last 40+ years, I use the family company, Treandafilos, Giorgos and Dimitri. Dimitri and Voula speak good English and you can pre-book on line.
It is the way that we now travel, using BA from Heathrow (their business class is even cheaper than Tui) and taxis each end make it a completely effortless journey.
You do have plenty of time before making a booking, and you may get other recommendations in the meantime, so all the best.

if you are happy with the package deal, go for it. it's not so much saving a lot of money but being independent. we don't like sitting on a bus waiting for people and then going to every hotel until at last we get to ours. and package hotels don't seem to be so authentic, but cater more for people who want their home comforts. same with half board, which we would never even consider. for us it's one of the best things to discover a new taverna each night until we found the one. but as I said, that's just how we do it. for that independence you need a car which makes the holiday more expensive. so you have to consider your options. I am sure that a package holiday is the cheapest and easiest way.

Hi viv, I book directly and have done for years, but we fly from germany which is a bit easier. I just had a look on www.skyscanner.com and there don't seem to be any direct flight from the UK at all, not even from London. but perhaps there will be an airline a bit later in the year. the prices at the moment are between 350 and 550 € per person. hope you find something. we have already booked flights, car and accommodation so June can't arrive too soon. Good luck.

We climbed Ipsarion in June 2019. We are not youngsters by any means but I walk regularly (other half does not). We had walking boots and walking poles. Would not attempt to walk it without these. We also had 3 litres of water each which we used. We started at 7.45 am to avoid heavy heat and it took 3 hours to reach summit and sign book. The last part was hard going and we had to scramble in parts (this was the last part after reaching the hut) It took a similar time to get down, perhaps a bit longer. The red markings were good to follow when we did it but this was nearly 3 years ago. It was cool in the pine forest part. The walk is not easy either up or down but maybe better if you are youngsters. Always wanted to do it and very glad that we achieved it😊 The app on my phone recorded 4428 ft.

Eurowings wanted 1300 € for 2 from Düsseldorf to kavala, we paid 400 € for the 2 of us with similar baggage allowance. So we are pretty happy and got the car thrown in and some spending money on top.

With the helicopter not being able to drop water on it over the night it looks to have some more outbreaks of the fires. Hopefully they can dowse it out again today.

Residents and tourists staying in Kinira have been asked to evacuate towards Limenaria on the island's southside because of the thick smoke in the area. Until now, no such orders have been given to people in Skala Potamia (the village visible in the webcam feed at the foot of the mountain).
The fire started in a hard-to-reach place in the mountains. It started at dusk when the firefighting planes and helicopters aren't able to fly so it was able to spread during the night. At dawn, several planes and helicopters arrived to help the scores of firefighters, fire engines, and volunteers who have been up all night battling the flames.
Wind conditions on Thassos are low to moderate at the moment which is a very good thing... if the winds her high this would be much more difficult.
I hear planes flying overhead constantly.
Firefighters continue to arrive from mainland Greece to help:
