Thessaloniki to Thasos

Hello,

I hope you all are doing good. I am travelling from Thessaloniki to Thassos on 13 August, and would appreciate clarification on ferry bookings:

  1. Can tickets be purchased at Kavala/Keramoti port on departure day? Are they usually spot available?
  2. If advance booking is required, what’s the process?
  3. Cash or Card for the ferry?
  4. For the bus from Thessaloniki to Kavala is it possible to advance book?

Thank you for your assistance—looking forward to visiting Thassos! Have a great day!

Best regards,

Hi ElMaetro :slightly_smiling_face:

We’re happy to clarify:

  1. Tickets can only be purchased on the spot at Kavala/Keramoti ferry ports immediately before boarding and departure
  2. It’s impossible to book ferry tickets in advance
  3. Both cash and card are accepted
  4. Yes, you can book your bus tickets in advance here: https://ktelbus.gr/kav/ticketweb/

You’ll want to choose:

FROM:
MACEDONIA INTERCITY BUS STATION (Thessaloniki’s Bus Station)

TO:
KAVALA CENTRAL STATION

I hope you find this info helpful!

Hi

Thank you for the answer, I see that there are no buses from Kavala to Keramoti. I see there is the route Skala Prinos - Kavala can this be used? My final destination is Limenas Thasos.

Many thanks for your time.

Hi ElMaetro :slightly_smiling_face:

If you take the ferry from Kavala to Skala Prinos, then you can take the bus from Skala Prinos to Limenas. It is very easy and convenient.

Two buses will be waiting at the ferry port in Skala Prinos when you arrive from Kavala. One bus will be going to Limenas while the other to Limenaria. Just be sure to get on the right one!

Hi,

Thank you, is there also any bus from Kavala to Keratomi as there is less frequent ferry from Kavala to Skala Prinos. If not I will take the ferry to Skala Prinos, it is the main Kavala port right?

Have a great day!

No, there isn’t any bus from Kavala to Keramoti. You would need to take a bus from Kavala to Chrysoupoli, and then change buses for Keramoti. Check out the bus schedules (attached).

If budget allows, taking a taxi from Kavala to Keramoti is a convenient option, but it costs more.

Hi

Thank you, this helped me plan the trip! I will go from Skala Prinos. Last question, is it possible to advance book the bus to Limenas or it is buy it on site, and are they frequent?

Thanks a lot, this helped a lot.

Ferrying from Kavala to Skala Prinos, and then bussing from Skala Prinos to Limenas is the simplest option in your case.

No, you cannot buy a bus ticket in advance from Skala Prinos to Limenas.

As soon as you get off the ferry, walk to the bus. It will be parked at the ferry port waiting for ferry passengers, but only for a few minutes. Do not delay because if you miss it, you will need to wait about 2 hours for the next one.

I’m glad this information was helpful; it was my pleasure! :slightly_smiling_face:
