We’re going on holiday to Thassos in June 2026 and are staying in Potos. We’re flying into Kavala and looking at booking a private transfer for 2 adults and 2 young children (ages 4 and 2).
TUI have quoted us around £200 for the transfer, but I’m wondering if it’s better (or cheaper) to book with a local taxi/transfer company instead?
Also, how does the transfer usually work with the ferry crossing from the mainland to Thassos? Does the driver stay with you on the ferry or do you switch vehicles on the island?
If anyone has done this before, I’d really appreciate any recommendations for reliable local transfer companies and a rough idea of the cost for a private transfer to Potos.
You can definitely do this trip for quite a bit less than the £200 TUI quoted.
A common (and reliable) way to do it is:
Taxi from Kavala Airport to Keramoti Port (€20)
Ferry from Keramoti to Limenas, Thassos (about €6 per adult, €4 for kids (5–10), and free under 5
Taxi from Limenas to Potos (max. €70)
So overall, you’re usually looking at ~€100–110 total, which is significantly cheaper than the TUI transfer. With this setup, you’ll need to change vehicles. The mainland taxi drops you at Keramoti, and another taxi picks you up in Limenas.
If you book a taxi and arrange for it to stay with you from start to finish, then you’ll need to cover the ferry ticket costs for the car and the driver, which will drive the price to about 180 EUR.
I recommend contacting a local airport transfer company in advance who can organise both taxis for you. Here’s one I can vouch for:
Hope that helps… and Potos is a great choice, you’ll love it! Have you stayed there during any of your previous visits to Thassos, or will this be your first time?
Thanks Augie, this is all really helpful this will be our 4th time to Thassos, 2nd time to Potos and our youngest son’s first holiday! All very exciting.
