Hey Jonny,
I actually checked in with some of the airport staff after the first UK flights landed this past Sunday. The EES kiosks are there, but they weren’t switched on yet, so everyone sailed through the old-fashioned way! It seems like they’re easing into the season, but I’m keeping a close eye on it for everyone here. When are you flying out? If you’re on one of the early June flights, you might be our ‘guinea pig’ for how the tech is holding up!
Greece hasa decide to suspend the new EES system entirely for an unspecified time so as not to delay all non EU tourists arriving (in the large number of small provincial and island )airports which Greece has. It now seems that Spain and Portugal and the Canaries will follow suit. We entered through Thessaloniki 4 weeks ago with no delays but had to repeat the process on leaving (which seems pointless) which caused a hold up!!

Hi Jonny,
Working for a travel agency we pick up people from the Kavala airport. As far as I know the EES system has been postponed until further notice.
Yes, they’re right! It’s been suspended for UK and Serbian visitors. Articles below…

I want to clear up the conflicting reports regarding British travelers and the EES. Despite the recent rumors of a ‘summer exemption,’ the Greek Ministry has now officially confirmed that the system is fully operational for all non-EU arrivals. While border police have the discretion to pause biometric capture during extreme peak-time congestion to prevent ‘border chaos,’ there is no formal nationality-based carve-out for the UK.
You can read the full breakdown of the Ministry’s stance here:
