I don’t know how the authorities will deal with it. One thing is certain: there’ll be a hell of a lot of mosquitoes this year.
The water canal and swamp area near Alexandra Golden in Golden Beach should be treated with appropriate mosquito control measures at the beginning of the tourist season, followed by a second treatment later on. This approach is important to effectively target both adult mosquitoes and their larvae, ensuring a significant reduction in the overall mosquito population.
According to a specialist, implementing these two treatment stages—early in the season and then again after some time—can successfully interrupt the mosquito breeding cycle and prevent the area from becoming heavily infested. This is particularly important in locations like Golden Beach, where stagnant water in canals and swampy areas creates ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes.
Given the potential impact on public comfort, health, and tourism, it would be advisable to inform the local authorities or the relevant environmental and public health departments. Proper mosquito control interventions could greatly improve the experience for visitors and residents alike.

The good news is that anti-mosquito measures are carried out every year on Thassos (under the administration of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace).
