Morning cooperkids, the beach is sandy/shale. I don’t think there is another beach that is as good as Golden Beach on Thassos.

Hi Nannie French,

A storm passed over the island a few days ago and caused a power surge. Some of the hardware was affected which is causing this down time of the camera. Rest assured it is not you and we’re working to get it back up for your enjoyment!

Hi Cooperkids,

We’re waiting for a network and hardware specialist to come to the camera site and troubleshoot the problem that’s causing the down time so we may fix it. Unfortunately the specialist hasn’t been able to come till now but we hope he will very soon.

I’ll update you here as soon as I have news.

Hi everyone!

A quick update about the camera:

We finally got a qualified technician to diagnose the precise problem.

The news is: now we know the exact problem! Hooray!

The news is: we need to wait for replacement parts from the U.S. which will take at least 10 days to arrive.

We’re working hard to get the camera back up and running for your enjoyment so do keep checking!

Hi VivnChris,

The people at Thomsons should be able to give you a definite answer.

One possibility is that the airport in Kavala is up for privatization in 2016 and perhaps Thomsons is waiting to learn the changes in fees? Aside from that I haven’t a clue but I hope they do decide to offer flights in May 2016.

I also really hope that after the airport is privatized we’ll begin to see budget airlines (Easyjet, etc.) flying from the UK to Kavala… that would be a great development for everyone traveling to Thassos independently from the UK!

its the cheapest flight only so far based on a family of 4 for july. for may for some reason is 3 times more expensive . Best t get on with the privatization so easyjet ryanair and others can go there.
