From Thassos to Samothraki

Hi everyone,
we want to visit Thassos for two weeks this September, and Samothraki for one week.
I learned that there is no direct ferry connection between them. Is there a chance to get a privat transfer with a fishing boat from e. g. Loutra or Golden Beach to Samothraki?
If not, what is the best way: from Limenas to Keramoti with the ferry, and then with the bus to Alexandroupolis to get the ferry to Kamariotissa?
Best wishes
Uwe

Hi Uwe :slightly_smiling_face:

That sounds like a wonderful 3-week holiday!

Unfortunately, I confirm there are no direct ferry routes from Thassos to Samothraki. Samothraki is only connected by ferry to Alexandroupolis and Limnos Island.

If you don’t have a car, I recommend taking the ferry from Skala Prinos to Kavala. Then take a bus from Kavala to Alexandroupoli.

Alternatively, you could take the ferry from Limenas to Keramoti. Then take the bus from Keramoti to Chrysoupoli. Then take another bus from Chrysoupoli to Xanthi. Then take another bus from Xanthi to Alexandroupoli.

Another, more expensive but faster option, is taking a ferry from Limenas to Keramoti, then a taxi to Xanthi, then a bus to Alexandroupoli.

Hi Augie,

thank you very much for your quick reply!

We intend to rent a car for some days in Limenaria. However, considering your idea I might ask the hirer if he accepts a return in Alexandroupoli. This might accelerate the whole transfer to Samothraki significantly.

Best wishes
Uwe

That’s another option, good idea! :slightly_smiling_face:

I also recommend visiting the marinas and harbors in Limenas and Skala Potamia while you are on Thassos. You may find someone who’s able to give you a private trip to Samothrace and drop you off.

Good news! I found someone who offers private trasport on a boat from Thassos to Samothraki if the weather and sea conditions permit.

Here’s their mobile number for inquiries: 00306949728697 - you could also contact them on Viber.

Thank you very much! I will definitely call them when we are on Thassos in September.

Here is an update: I called the Captain who also has a sign in the old port of Skala Potamia.
He does offer this transfer, but we couldn’t agree on the price (although I understand his calculation, but it was beyond our limit).
Nevertheless, a big thank you for your effort. We will visit Samothraki on a separate trip.
