I can see that Thassos is seriously burning these days. What is happening and where can we see actual info about it?

It’s safe to say that the fire is almost entirely extinguished!
We just returned from Skala Kallirachi where we saw the aftermath of the fire. Upon our arrival we noticed a plume of smoke coming from a mountain which was the only visible smoke to us… a positive sign that the fire has been stopped!
As we approached the mountain we observed the damage to the forest. Parts of the mountainside were scorched.
We also saw numerous fire trucks, buses from the National Fire Service, and bulldozers from the army, parked along the island’s ring road on stand-by, keeping a close watch.

The suspected cause of the fire is arson. Yes, what a shame…
Nobody was caught and there aren’t more details available other than what’s written in the article SueandMac posted above, but if any new information is released we will certainly keep you updated right here!
