Live Webcam at Golden Beach, Thassos

Hi Gill, yes we are going back this year, that’s me and Trev, also Dave and Jane are going again. We are all going on July 21st also Lorraine and Tony are going on that date too and we are all staying at the Nostos. CAN’T WAIT!!!

Hi Sue - we will probably miss you unless you are staying for more than 2 weeks as we are due to arrive on 4th August. Make sure you leave some mythos in the fridge!! Have a great time. We are so looking forward to going back again especially as we realty didn’t think we would make it this year.

just spent last week on the beautiful island and come back with a little tan and a little rust! strange weather compared to both visits last year. however, nothing can dampen a good meal in Finikas at Golden Beach. missing the sea bass already, and my new liking for an ouzo with my Greek lunchtime coffee!!

Hi We are off the Thassos in July for first time. Been to Lesvos for last 2 years and love it there but decided on a change this year and Thassos looks gorgeous. Can’t wait for the webcam to be up and running. Staying at Nostos Studios which has so many good reports, can’t wait. B-)

Can anyone give us any tips or advice on a day trip to Kavala from Thassos, many thanks, :slightly_smiling_face:

Hy everybody.we are going to thassos next week, arrival date is 20 june

Hi Adilee, we too are planning on taking a trip over to Kavala during our next trip to Thassos, staying at Smaragdi. As far as I can see it’s the ferry from Skala Prinos and it’s a trip of approx. 1hour 40 mins. The ferries run from 7.15am last one back from Kavala is 8.00pm, 8.45 on sundays. hopefully someone who has done the trip will reply.

Hi Adilee / HollySammy

We did the Skala Prinos to Kavala last July and it took approx 1 Hour, can’t exactly remember the cost but it wasn’t that expensive, it is quite an experience as you are transported from a very laid back island to the throngs of a city, where there are abundant shops and street cafe’s, some set in open type arcades where you can sit with a cool drink and watch Greek life go by or, you can do the same thing amongst the cool shade of the trees of a local park that we came upon, you can also visit the old castle which we were told can be accessed via a free bus, dependent upon what interests you it is worth the trip, and when you get back to Thassos, you realise just how peaceful the island is, what ever you guys decide enjoy your holiday, yamas with a Mythos. B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-) B-)

Hi COSMIN
THE BEST WAY IS TO GET THE FERRY BOAT FROM KERAMOTI
THE CROSSING IS QUICKER AND THE FERRY SEVICE IS MORE FREQUENT.
HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY AND TAKE SOME BREAD FOR THE BIRDS THAT FOLLOW THE BOAT.

:slightly_smiling_face: Thanks Graham and Jane! we will give it a go, sounds like we will have plenty to do and see in Kavala. Can’t believe that we have never done so before especially as this will be our 13th trip to Thassos, which we absolutely love. Will you be going to Thassos yourselves this year at all? we stay with Costas and Katerina at Emerald in Golden Beach. It is so true that Thassos is a beautiful and peaceful place to be. Thanks again will let you know how we got on.

Graham and Jane, many thanks for the advice, we are definitely going to do this trip this time, as we have been saying for the last 4 years that we should. Flying out on Monday, cannot wait to return to our favorite island.:smiley:

Hi HollySammy

We have been to many of the Greek Islands and only discovered Thassos last year, we stayed in Skala Rachoni and are going back this year on June 30th ( Not long now ),we love the laid back type holiday and of all the Islands, Thassos left such an impression that it was a no brainer to go back, we like to get out and about and spend a day at different resorts, Golden Beach is a stunner and we will certainly be spending some time there during our holiday, as we have said Kavala is a bustling city but well worth the visit, on any holiday there is always something to discover, have you any tips / experience whilst you have holidayed over the years in Thassos, that we may not know about as we’d love to know.

Graham and Jane, we too will be heading to Thassos on the 30th! We were hooked the first time we visited Thassos and have managed to return every year since! Over the years we have discovered new places and things to do. Have you gone to Theologos at all? There is a very pleasant walk that goes behind the village from the church, over the bridge and brings you up behind a second church at the other end of the village. The market in Prinos on a Monday morning. The historical sites in and around Thassos Town, including the old amphitheatre they are repairing, the museum and the talk covering the histoey of Thassos in the old harbour, given by the author, Tony Oswin- there is an accompanying book, the A-z of Thassos. we have also walked around the coastal route from Golden Beach to Thassos Town, leaving at 5.00am whilst it’s still dark and reaching Thassos Town in time to have breakfast before catching the Taxi boat back to Golden Beach. The Olive Oil museum in Panagia. These are just some of the activities we have enjoyed over the years and have visited most of the mountain villages too. we try to follow some of the walks around Thassos that lead out from most of the villages. We really enjoy our visits to Thasos and never fail to return home relaxed. If you do visit golden beach and come across the Emerald/smaragdi (up the hill) opposite The fedra, pop in and say hi! Who knows may see you on the journey over, have a great holiday!

Hi

A question regarding the ferry, does everyone manage to get on the first ferry or is there a wait. Not that I mind sitting in a bar waiting just wondered whether it got full.

Thanks in advance

Jackie

Jackie, don’t worry there’s plenty of room on the ferry for everyone, so you won’t have to wait, they are huge. enjoy your holiday in thassos B-) B-)

HollySammy

Sounds like Thassos is your 1st home rather than your second, yes we too get about like you and have visited pretty much the same as you, the only difference being is that last time these visits felt fleeting, so this time we will spend more time in places, we will be flying from Birmingham on the 30th so who knows, happy hols.

Hurry up Easyjet and release your flights to thessaloniki for 2014 so we can book and look forward to next summer on Thassos

Hi everyone, can anyone out there tell me how to get to mount Isperion we did attempt it a couple of years ago but got nowhere. Can anyone tell me is there a book with walks around Thassos. On our first visit we went up into the mountains with a guide called Rose it was a lovely experience.

Sue I bought a little book on walks from the Beach Shop in golden beach written by Rose Gruwel, who takes the walks it, cost 7 euros. You can access this walk from the village of Potamia. It is signposted from there! enjoy
