Re: New Beach Laws
Thanks Augie
Will be interesting to see what happens, over the last few years Golden Beach has (like most areas) got really crowded, maybe it will restrict the number of visitors once implemented.
Anyway, look forward to heading back in July, counting the days!!

Re: Thassos Goodbye
Hi all,
We too won't be returning to Thassos due to personal health reasons.
However, we enjoyed Thassos during its best times and spent our last holiday there in Greece in 2019 before Covid hit the scene.
We too could see the changes taking place but were lucky to have spent our last holiday at the Alexandra Golden Beach which was a lovely place.
Vigli's ruined by the then new owner not from Thassos and heard the background of why but won't comment further.
Missed our drink which I promised Augie as 2020 never happened due to Covid and cancelled.
All of Greece is changing and not for the better like everywhere in the World.
Stoupa mentioned was the first place we ever visited in Greece but one only has to look at the webcam to see the horrendous number sunbed/umbrella crowding the beach.
One can still enjoy the peaceful parts of Thassos on walks where one hardly sees a soul.
Alas, no more trip reports of the island which became our favourite place in Greece.
Regards,
Delboy

Re: Thassos Goodbye
Hi there, I do see your point but nothing is the way it was 20 years ago. Britain has changed beyond recognition and how we complain about that. Every island in greece has changed and they had to go with the times. but you say you love the Island and instead of showing that by returning and doing something for the people, you go away and search for some nostalgic dream. I will accept the changes because I feel at home when I go to thassos, I feel welcome and if there are people I don't agree with, so be it. anything is better than not going.
Re: Early Season visit
Hi CeeCeeDee
May is one of my favorite times on Thassos! You'll avoid the big crowds and intense summer heat. It's extra beautiful this time of you with nature freshly coming back to life!
Do keep in mind that you will find many places will still be closed this early in the season but there are ample restaurants and shops that will be open in Limenas, where you'll be staying.
The boat trips typically begin around this time of year but you will need to visit the marina in Limenas, as well as the old harbor, to find out what boat trips are available during your holiday dates.
Getting to Skala Prinos from Limenas only takes 20 minutes by bus. The bus will drop you off right in front of the ferry port in Skala Prinos and, at the moment, a ticket only costs 2 EUR per person. You can find the up-to-date bus schedules and prices here: https://www.go-thassos.gr/thassos-bus-schedules-prices (what you see now is the winter schedule - there will be more route times available in May)
I hope this info is helpful, do let me know!

Re: Live Webcam at Golden Beach, Thassos
@zav Thanks for the heads up! Looks like the PTZ motor got misaligned. All of our preset stops were shifted to the right by a few degrees. It should be fixed now.
Re: Ferry
Hi Atay
Annual or monthly ferry passes are not available. Only single trip tickets which can be purchased at the ferry port before departure.

Re: Skala Rachoni marina fees?
Hi Oliver,
My name is Anthony I work here at Go-Thassos.
My father-in-law is a fisherman and is at that port all the time. He told me that for a small boat there is no cost for a short amount of time. But there is a small cost if you want to stay there for months. He told me that if you want to stay for the summer the cost is 10-15 euros. He recently paid 255 euros for an 8-year pass.
If you have a big boat (6+ meters) you will need a base (docking pole) to be built to tie the boat down. The cost for that is between 200-500 euros depending on the size and materials used.
There is also electricity and water there for the working professionals (ie. fishermen) to use free of charge. He told me that he thinks you can also use that for free during short stays.
If you want specific details please provide more details about the boat, especially the size, and optionally a photo and how long you intend to be docked here. My father-in-law will ask the port authorities for your specific case. If you need the aforementioned docking pole, he's able to build one for you and take care of the paperwork with the port police.
Wishing you the best,
Anthony
