Is the island 'destroyed' by storms?

I saw on the news that the weather is very bad, it rained a lot and the water destroyed roads and beaches ... Is the situation really that bad? We should come Sunday in Thassos, but if the island look so bad I think we should leave it for next year :(

    Hello Raluk!

I can assure you that Thassos was not destroyed.

The storm, which passed over northern Greece and Thassos island, brought a lot of rain which created a mess on some of the roads.

Dirt and pebble roads were washed out in some places but the island's main road network is OK.

Some asphalt roads were partially covered with rock and dirt but the local authorities are working to clean it up.

As for the beaches I can't give you a definitive answer about the condition of each one. Thassos has over 100 beaches around the island so you have many options available.

The weather forecast shows that it will rain through Sunday. It may be a good idea to wait for the sun to return, so try to keep an eye on the forecast.

September is normally a beautiful time to visit Thassos.

I hope this information helps you. :)
